Terms of Use
These are the simple terms for taking part in The Local Loop. We’ve kept them in plain language — they’re here to keep things clear and fair, not to catch anyone out.
What The Local Loop is
The Local Loop introduces local businesses and people who might like to exchange skills and services. We help you find each other — we are not a party to any exchange, we don’t supply the services, and we don’t manage, supervise or guarantee them.
Joining
Membership is by approval. Please keep your profile honest and up to date, only register yourself or a business you’re entitled to represent, and let us know if your details change. We may decline or end a membership.
Your exchanges are yours to agree
You agree directly with the other person what is being exchanged, when, and on what terms. Anything outside that — including paid work — is a separate arrangement between the two of you.
Your own obligations
You’re responsible for your own tax, GST, invoicing, record keeping, insurance, licensing and professional obligations relating to an exchange. Even where no money changes hands, an exchange may still need to be recorded. If you’re unsure, check with your accountant or Inland Revenue.
How to behave here
Taking part means following The Loop Code. In particular: no cold selling, mass promotion or unsolicited pitching, no harassment, and no using member details for anything other than arranging a genuine exchange. Member information you see inside your Loop is private — please don’t share, publish or add it to a marketing list.
Concerns and removal
If a concern is raised we may contact the people involved to understand what happened. Serious or repeated issues, or behaviour that undermines trust, may lead to a membership being placed under review, suspended or removed.
No warranty, and our limits
We take care with The Local Loop, but we can’t promise a particular match, exchange or outcome, and we’re not responsible for the quality, timing or results of anything exchanged between members, or for any loss arising from an exchange. Use your own judgement as you would with any new working relationship.
Your information
We only collect what we need to run the Loop and make introductions. See the privacy page for the detail.
Changes
The Local Loop is still growing, so these terms may change. We’ll let members know when anything meaningful changes, and the version you agreed to is recorded when you join.
