The Loop Code
The Local Loop works because of the people in it. The Loop Code is simply how we look after each other — a few friendly expectations rather than a rulebook.
Come to exchange, not to sell
Connect with people where you can see the potential for a genuine exchange. The Local Loop should not be used for cold selling, mass promotion or unsolicited business pitches.
No pressure
People are free to accept or decline a connection. If someone isn’t interested, respect that.
Agree before you begin
Both people should agree on what is being exchanged and what each person will provide before work begins.
Keep it fair
The intention is reciprocity. Both people should feel comfortable and happy with the exchange.
Paid work can happen — but it’s not the purpose
A connection may naturally lead to future paid work. That’s completely fine, but anything outside the agreed exchange should be discussed and agreed separately.
Be reliable and respectful
Treat Loop exchanges with the same respect you would give a paying customer, client or collaborator.
Look after your own obligations
Members are responsible for their own tax, GST, insurance, professional and other business obligations relating to exchanges.
Protect the Loop
Members should be able to report a poor experience or inappropriate behaviour. Where a concern is raised, The Local Loop may contact the people involved to understand what happened. Serious or repeated issues, harassment, inappropriate selling or behaviour that undermines trust may result in removal from The Local Loop.
Be a good human. Give fairly, receive gratefully, and leave the other person glad they connected with you.
